2026 UN Biodiversity Conference (CBD COP 17)

The 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) will take place from 19 to 30 October 2026 in Yerevan, Armenia. The conference will bring together governments, international organizations, Indigenous Peoples and local communities, civil society, academia, and the private sector to accelerate implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity and review global progress under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. As the first global review of the Framework’s implementation, COP17 will assess progress towards its 23 targets and 2050 vision, strengthen commitments on biodiversity conservation, sustainable use, and equitable benefit-sharing, and mobilize greater financial resources and partnerships to address the global biodiversity crisis. The conference is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the next phase of international biodiversity action.
